TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The residents of V.M. Ybor have been coming to Tampa City Council for years to ask that something be done about a high concentration of convicted sex offenders living in their neighborhood.
On Thursday, the city council held a workshop to talk about the issue, but the results were not what residents were hoping for.
“Would that make any of you feel safe having 72 of these harmful individuals living within a quarter mile of your house?” V.M. Ybor resident Kelly Grimsdale asked councilmembers.
So I read this story and after I finished it I asked myself, “So where exactly is the ‘problem’?” The chief complaint seems to be “Well, there are a lot of them and they are here.” Why are they ‘here’? Maybe because they can’t afford to live anywhere else, or are not allowed to live anywhere else due to Florida’s insane residence restrictions.
No mention was made of any resident of these facilities doing anything even remotely illegal, so the main complaint would have to be “they exist.”
Ironically, if you click over to the news site that published this report, you’d find a link to another story indicating that a sex offender encampment was about to be “cleared” by local authorities. Gosh but doesn’t that have a bit of a Tiananmen Square ring to it?
Wouldn’t it be a laugh if, when asked what they wished to see done to resolve the “issue,” the Karens and Darrens would just say that they really want: “Execute them all.” But hey. At least the powers-that-be agreed to send over inspectors to look for code violations, so it’s a partial win, right? Yay Team!
What is the repeat offense rate for those folks these residents are worried about? Why is the reporter not looking into that or the council for that fact?
I think everyone grew up in a town or city that had some kind of “group home,” and no one questioned much about their backgrounds or specific issues. In my neighborhood we have men from a group home walking around, sometimes muttering incoherently, and in general people either ignore them or just wave them friendly hellos. We just accept that there are men (and some women) in the world with issues who need help. Once the government starts labeling some of these people as dangerous, people’s hearts harden and conflict arises. It’s just so stupid.
“Councilmembers voted to ask the code enforcement to inspect the three homes to see if there are any violations.”
Why are these 🐒 monkeys suddenly worried about “codes” being up to date? Do they have that much concern about their other constituents? Because I’m sure there’s a lot of slumlords in the Tampa area. Or maybe this “code” bullsh*t is just a ruse to harass and spy on law abiding citizens in their home
Three things:
1: It took the presence of nearly 100 PFRs, most living in 2 boarding houses, for K&D to whip up enough give a damn, to actually make anything happen. As per usual, K&D are the only ones pushing the panicky idiot button.
2: As always, everybody is absolutely certain that the Registry will in no way prevent anything. If the registry actually prevented crimes, why worry about having known PFRs near?
Yes, the lying clowns will swear up and down that the Registry is “Critical for the prevention of recidivism”…but the moment they actually have to rely on that, oh no all the PFRs must be pushed far far away!
3: Because they are soulless monster creatures, they want to push what they assume to be a hoard of dangerous, “Predators” away to, they neither know nor care, so the Registry can fail to keep those people safe…they assume.
Funny how that part of the story never gets mentioned. How K&D’s great victory is really just dumping what they view as a dangerous problem on some other community. If that part of the story was ever looked into, you’d see K&D for what they really are… Soulless Monsters, that care for none but themselves. Pigs that are more than happy to throw anyone and everyone under the bus for their own needs.
K&D never get called out on this, in part, because there are virtually never any “newsworthy” results past the banishment story. If the banished PFR’s did anything, “Newsworthy” after being banished by K&D, some journalist would cash in on throwing K&D under the bus for banishing the PFR to wherever they engaged in their “Newsworthy” activity.
Think about it. If Tampa Karen banished some PFR away… and that PFR ended up in Jacksonville…where he made a new special little friend…don’t ya think Jacksonville Karen is going to call-out Tampa Karen for that?
Yep, PFRs get banished from one place, to another, and another…on and on without ever Recidivating. Because they never recidivate whatever K&D has the hot potato at the moment can scream about how dangerous they will be any moment now. The PFR’s harmlessness facilitates an endless series of K&D claims about what they will do… tomorrow.
“harmful individuals”
Is that supposed to be a euphemism “bad people?” Because that’s the vibe I’m getting.
I just looked up a map of the V.M. Ybor neighborhood. There are parks and schools sprinkled throughout, and using my legend scale concluded that there are very few pockets of legal residences for registrants there. I’m not sure of the address, but like most urban areas in Florida, it restricts over 90% of the available housing against registrants. It is highly likely the ONLY reason that they are concentrated at that location is the fact that the boarding houses are cheap enough, relatively, that registrants can bunk together in many cases to survive in the Tampa area.
